Aluminium Stair Nosing
A stair nosing covers the front edge of a step, protecting the tread and giving the edge a clean line. Our sections run from 40 mm to 50 mm wide and 10 mm to 20 mm high, with a 0.5–1.0 mm wall, in 2.5 m lengths. MOQ starts at 300 m per profile.

Representative stair sections
Representative sections from our die library. The dimension that matters most is the internal throat, because it has to clear the step covering the nosing sits over. Send your step detail and we confirm the section.

Capability range
Every dimension below is confirmed against your drawing before production. Because the range is wide, we publish the working range rather than fixed SKUs.
| Item | Specification | What it means for your project |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Aluminium alloy | Extruded aluminium sections for interior trim |
| Grade | 6063-T5 | Standard architectural extrusion grade, confirmed against your specification before sampling |
| Item | Specification | What it means for your project |
|---|---|---|
| Internal throat | 10–20 mm | The dimension that decides fit. It has to clear the thickness of the step covering the nosing sits over |
| Width | 40–50 mm | The face that turns over the step edge, set by the tread and the finished look you want |
| Thickness | 0.5–1.0 mm | Standard range, with heavier walls on request |
| Standard length | 2.5 m | Supplied in standard lengths or cut to the size you need |
| Custom lengths | Cut to size | Cut to your required length on the production run |
Surface finishes and colours
| Item | Specification | What it means for your project |
|---|---|---|
| Surface finish | Anodized, powder-coated, wood-grain, brushed, polished, sandblasted | Available processes; powder coating can be matched to a RAL code |
| Gloss level | Glossy or matt | Every colour is available in either version — tell us the sheen you need |
| Colour | 10 standard | Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Bronze, Champagne, Grey, Granite, Light Grey, Black, White |
| Custom colours | Matched to your sample | Colour matched to your reference — typically within 90% on standard tones; special colours confirmed in advance |
Ten colours are held as standard, and every one of them can be produced glossy or matt. Send a colour reference — a swatch, a photo or a RAL code — and we match it. On standard tones the match typically reaches 90%, and unusual colours are confirmed with a physical sample before production. If the sheen matters for your project, say so at the enquiry stage and we will confirm it with the sample.
The same ten colours are used across the whole range, so mixed profiles on one job match.
Where stair nosings are used
Stair nosings are used on stairs in commercial and residential projects, where the tread edge takes the most wear. The profile protects that edge and gives the flight a defined line from the bottom step to the top.

Frequently asked questions
What step thickness does your nosing suit?
Internal throats run from 10 mm to 20 mm, so the nosing clears most tread build-ups, including tile and stone. Tell us the step detail and the covering and we confirm the section.
Can it be combined with a tile or stone tread?
Yes. The same sections are used where stairs are finished in tile, stone or another hard covering, and they are produced in the same ten standard colours as the rest of the range.
Can you match the nosing to the rest of the trim on the job?
Yes. Nosings are produced in the same sections, surface finishes and ten standard colours as our tile trim, skirting and wall panel trim, so a project keeps one finish throughout.
